DTI FUNDING UP TO £20M FOR GRID CONNECTED WIND TURBINES
The programme will run over three years, starting from 1st April 2006 and replaces DTI's Clear Skies and Solar PV programmes, which closed for applications on the 31st March 2006. The programme is UK wide (apart from the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) and will demonstrate how energy efficiency and microgeneration will work hand in hand to create low carbon buildings.
There will be two streams of grants available:
Stream one - this applies to smaller projects for home owners and community groups among others.
Stream two - this applies to projects which include businesses, community organisations and the public sector. We will have more news on stream two in July.
* £1,000 per installed kW towards the cost of domestic installations (up to £5000)
* up to 65% for local authority projects
* up to 40% available towards business & commercial systems
* Grid connected systems custom designed & installed to suit individual requirements
* S.E.A. are accredited by EST and BRE grant schemes to design, supply and install complete systems, from concept to grid connection & commissioning, stand alone battery systems also available.
Energy generated is firstly used in the home - any surplus is exported to the grid and is paid for at the same rate as you are normally charged for imported energy - The grid is used as an energy store, unused units generated during the day are effectively used at night.
